Getting Started — Trezor Suite (Desktop & Web)

A concise, visual guide to install, connect, and secure your hardware wallet.

Overview

Trezor Suite is the official desktop and web companion app for Trezor hardware wallets. It lets you manage accounts, send and receive cryptocurrencies, check balances, install firmware updates, and configure advanced security options — all while keeping your private keys offline in your Trezor device. This short presentation walks you through the first-time setup and the key features to use safely.

1. Before you begin

What you’ll need

  • A Trezor hardware device (Model One or Model T)
  • A desktop or laptop (Windows / macOS / Linux) or a modern browser for the web version
  • USB cable and a secure, private workspace

2. Install Trezor Suite

Desktop

Download and install the native Trezor Suite app for your OS. The desktop app provides the most stable experience and supports firmware updates and backups locally.

Web

If you prefer not to install software, use the web Suite at suite.trezor.io. The web flow mirrors the desktop experience but runs in your browser.

3. First-time setup

Connect & initialize

1) Connect your Trezor device to your computer with the USB cable. 2) Open Trezor Suite (desktop or web). The Suite will detect your device and guide you through the device initialization or recovery flow. 3) Create or restore a wallet by following on-screen prompts — the device screen is the authoritative source and always confirm PINs and words there.

4. Create a backup (recovery seed)

During setup the device will generate a recovery seed (12–24 words). Write this down on the provided recovery card, store it offline, and never share it digitally. This seed is the single point-of-failure: protecting it is essential to securing your funds.

5. Daily use

Send & receive

Use Suite to create receiving addresses, monitor balances, and compose transactions. Always verify the transaction details shown on your Trezor device screen before confirming.

Accounts & tokens

Suite automatically detects supported cryptocurrencies and lets you add accounts. For tokens and custom assets, use the advanced settings in Suite to add token contracts.

6. Firmware & security

The Suite will prompt when firmware updates are available. Keep firmware up-to-date to receive security fixes. Enable optional passphrases for plausible deniability only if you understand the responsibility: a passphrase is an additional secret and is not recoverable from your recovery seed alone.

7. Troubleshooting & support

If your device is not recognized, try a different USB cable or port, check the official troubleshooting guide, and contact Trezor Support for unresolved issues.

Summary

Trezor Suite unites device-level security with a modern app experience. For new users: install Suite, initialize your Trezor, record your recovery seed offline, and verify every transaction on your device. Use the official guides and support links included to deepen your knowledge and keep your funds safe.
